Service: Sports Court
The existing tennis court had previously been surfaced with a synthetic grass court material, which had degraded to the point that it could no longer be used. Our client removed the synthetic covering, which left areas of adhesive that had to be removed. The court was then to be employed as a sports court, sprayed with a suitable coating in contrasting colours for the playing surface and perimeter area, marked with Basketball, Netball and Tennis court markings. The court was fairly inaccessible being to the rear of a large Victorian terraced building and at least sixty metres from the nearest vehicle offloading point.
After inspection of the site we advised on the removal of the residual adhesive and specified Decatone Sports Court water based Acrylic Coating with Decatone tarmac binder. The existing court would have to be thoroughly cleaned by jet washing to ensure good adhesion with the existing surface. Decatone Acrylic coating is the ideal solution, being tough and very durable, whilst giving excellent slip resistant properties.
Prior to commencing on site the entire tarmac surface area was blasted with high pressure water to remove any trace of loose material and detritus. Once dry, we set to work applying a single coat of spray applied Decatone binder, along with two coats of Decatone SR75 Sports court coating, spring green for the playing surface and summer red for the perimeter. Once fully cured the court markings were spray applied, with one pack epoxy paint demarking the different courts in contrasting colours, for easy identification.
Decatone is specifically formulated for use on sports and tennis courts and approved for use by the Lawn Tennis Association, available in various colours and shades including green, red and blue. Decatone SR75 is an antislip colour coating with algaecide and fungicide properties, along with the clear tarmac solvent based binder is a complete system to help create the perfect playing surface. The system will also help in slowing down the damage caused by UV rays by acting as a protective layer and helping to extend the life of any new or existing tarmac surface.
