Service: Sports Court
Our client wanted to refurbish an existing tired, old tennis court that had not been used for a number of years and formed part of an old Victorian walled garden. The client wanted a surface that was sympathetic to the environment and complimented the other landscaping activities surrounding the tennis court. We were also unable to bring heavy plant within 50m of the court and that the only footpath access from the main drive had to be protected at all times.
After surveying the site and advising the client on the suitability of the existing surface. We advised on a complete power wash and weedkill of the entire surface. Decatone SR60 Tennis court water based Acrylic coating, along with Decatone single pack solvent based tarmac binder was specified. The tarmac binder has two purposes, firstly it helps 'bind' the colour coating to the tarmac and secondly assists in extending the life of the colour coating.
We employed our supply chain partner Jeff Williams Mobile Jet Washing Ltd, to pressure wash and clean the existing tarmac surface. This would remove all loose tarmac and dust and leave a good surface for the binder and colour coating to adhere to. The area was allowed to thoroughly dry, before we started on site. Our crew surveyed the site and set out for the different shades of green for the playing surface and perimeter area. The acrylic tarmac binder was then applied by an airless spray machine and allowed to dry before the two coat application of 'Spring Green' to the perimeter and 'Forest Green' for the playing surface. The coating was allowed to fully 'cure' before we set out and applied the one pack epoxy line marking paint, again applied by an airless spray machine.
Decatone is specifically formulated for use on tennis courts and approved for use by the Lawn Tennis Association, available in various colours and shades including green, red and blue (to special order). Decatone SR60 is an antislip colour coating with algaecide and fungicide properties, along with the clear tarmac solvent based binder is a complete system to help create the perfect playing surface. The system will also help in slowing down the damage caused by UV rays by acting as a protective layer and helping to extend the life of any new or existing tarmac surface.
