Service: Internal Warehouse
Morgan Ashurst was asked to find a paint system to denote internal and external safety walkways and vehicle separation zones to the new Motor Transport Facility. The system would have to be applied to a polished concrete surface, be suitable for both internal and external areas, be resilient to oils and solvents and be highly durable in an environment that will be used by a mixture of pedestrians, 4x4 vehicles, HGV's and rubber tracked vehicles.
We were asked to install two different paint systems that would give the best possible durability and value in a very harsh environment. We used our one pack Epoxy paint with acrylic lacquer to the internal and external walkways. This system, in the vast majority of areas, would only have pedestrian traffic but represented a better value choice. The second system used was a Methyl Methacrylate line marking paint in white around the vehicle bays and yellow and black hazard line around the ramps. This system, although more costly, is very durable and is ideally suited to the harsh environments expected in these areas. The final results are, as you can see, outstanding.
The two different systems required different application methods and needed extensive setting out and preparation time due to the intricate design of the walkways and the many thousands of metres of line to be laid. To ensure a good key we used our Blastrac recovered shot blasting system to prepare the surface. We spray applied our one pack epoxy paint, sealed with a sprayed lacquer finish. Our MMA line marking system is a screed material – this is by far the most durable of road marking paints giving excellent results in life span.
Both products are cold applied making for safer application in internal locations & are available in a variety of colours. They offer superb durability and resilience to fuel & solvents whilst maintaining excellent anti-slip properties.
