Service: Decorative Surfacing Treatments
The design consultant 4DLD were given the challenge to create a relaxing, harmonious and sensitive place for patients, staff and visitors to enjoy whilst also being attractive and easy to maintain in the long term. The design concept sought to reflect the wider landscape and setting of the building by echoing the importance of the local waterways, the marble industry and the natural landscape.
We were asked to install our Resin Bound surfacing system, which provides a smooth, attractive, hard wearing, low maintenance, porous surface. The finished surface is a seamless bound paving system, which is flexible and resistant to cracking. Michele from 4DLD wanted to give the space the appearance of water but without any of the maintenance issues. To achieve this we used our blue coloured recycled glass and as you can see, the effect is truly stunning.
Addaset Resin Bound surfacing can only be laid by approved installers. The approval process requires intensive training and the company must show its commitment to quality. We achieved this by being a certified ISO 9001:2008 company. The two part resin mix is the critical component and once mixed must be combined with the aggregate. Our highly skilled workforce had a short time frame to transport, deposit, screed and hand trowel the material to a smooth and level finish. The material was then left to cure for 12-16 hours.
Resin Bound Surfacing can be used in most areas including drives, parking areas and footpaths. With its clear resin binder, natural or recycled aggregates and porous design, it can be used in environmentally sensitive areas. The porous abilities mean it can form part of a SUDS system by helping to reduce rainwater runoff.
