Design Brief

QMS were asked to reproduce the logo of Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club and place it at the entrance gates to greet visitors. The logo had to be reproduced and enlarged to fill the entrance way, whilst still keeping all the detail and perspective of the original. Ex Formula-One world champion Nigel Mansell's F1 helmet forms the centre piece of the logo and had to be replicated in all its detail.

Solution

Preformed Thermoplastic was the only realistic choice for this type of logo as it needed to be extremely durable and be able to be precision cut to allow the detail of the original logo to be maintained. We consulted and advised the client as to the best size and location of the logo, (there are no limits on the size and have been reproduced up to 20 metres in diameter).

Installation

A site survey and consultation was undertaken and a jpg file obtained of the original logo to enable an exact replica to be made. The material was then precision cut and checked before being sent to site. The area was cleaned by jet washing. In this case a clear resin primer was applied to the surface to ensure a lasting bond. We then marked out the area, unpacked, arranged the pieces and placed on the ground to ensure correct positioning. We then heat fused the material to the surface using LPG. Once complete, the cooling process takes 20-30 minutes, after which the logo can be trafficked. Following installation Joe Hammond (General Manager) remarked "it is a fabulous representation of our logo and looks great!!! Your guys looked the part and really did a professional job".
