Salisbury Market Place, Treepits and Recycled Sanitrywear
Salisbury Market Place is currently undergoing a large-scale rejuvenation programme. The improvement scheme will see Salisbury Market Place and Guildhall Square repaved with high-quality surfacing, including the use of our Resin Bound Treepit surfacing system utilising recycled crushed ceramic aggregate from reject sanitrywear. It will take a very keen eye to spot that crushed reject sanitrywear has been used as the aggregate; to the layman’s eye it is an extremely beautiful buff surfacing that looks anything but artificial. Using the material in this way is an extremely innovative way to recycle a material that would otherwise been sent to landfill.
The scheme will create an inviting public space for residents and visitors to the city to admire the historic buildings and visit the local shops, cafes and restaurants. As part of the scheme the main contractor (Mildren Construction Limited) will be installing improved drainage, new lighting, a disabled toilet and electrical power points for the twice-weekly market and for use during special events such as the Charter Fair and the popular Christmas market.
